I've been a huge fan of John Wick ever since I saw him drive the Boss 429 Mustang. Each entry in the franchise has been absolutely insane in the best way possible. Action is the centerpiece of the franchise, but that doesn't mean the plot takes a back seat to it all. John Wick is routinely put through the ringer, and John Wick: Chapter 4 is no different.
This time, John Wick is facing stakes far higher than he has before, and his fight for survival has left him with very few resources remaining. New characters quickly prove their value to the franchise, making them all memorable additions. Believe it or not, the movie even got a few laughs from myself and the audience.
Enough about all that. The real question is: How are the fight scenes?
In a word: fantastic.
Some of the kills in the movie are hilarious, some are mystifying, and some are gruesome, but all are near the top of the series' best. Perhaps John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019) had better action sequences, but not by much. The various negotiations of the movie are tense, and their inevitable eruption into violence is satisfying. Overall, this is still a very high-quality action flick, surpassing almost all other action movies these days.
